Youth and Women for Peace and Sustainable Development is a non-governmental, non-profit making youth led organization founded in 2010 to actively engage young and aged people, women, people living with disabilities and the community at large in democratic and social processes in a bid to shape a peaceful yet productive society. The main objective of Yowpsud is in line with achieving Kenya’s vision 2030 through programmes shaped in addressing societal challenges. Yowpsud focus on the Coast and Northern part of Kenya, underpins the acute marginalization the regions has been facing, therefore acknowledges the fact such communities deserve recognition and equal opportunities, more especially with the new dispensentation.
YOWPSUD key thematic areas are in line with advancing the role of youth and women and actively involving them in the promotion of socio-economic, political, cultural and environmental development. Youth and women’s’ participation in all relevant levels of decision-making processes is imperative because it affects their lives today and has implications for their futures. In addition to their intellectual contribution and their ability to mobilize support, they bring unique perspectives that need to be taken into account. YOWPSUD focus on various development initiatives will ensure that youth, women and the community at large are provided a secure and healthy future, including an environment of quality, improved standards of living and access to education and employment.
